Dr. Gurdip Sharma S/o Sh. Raj Kumar Sharma,a  Railway Officer and a recipient of President's Medal for gallantry,  born on 20th August 1956, did M.A History with first division from D.A.V College, Jalandhar, in 1979 and stood third in the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. .Dr. Gurdip Sharma joined Goswami Ganesh Dutt Sanatan Dharm College, Hariana (Hoshiarpur), Punjab in January 1982 as a Lecturer in History. He did his M.Phil from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and Ph.D from Panjabi University,Patiala (Punjab) in 2000 on the Topic "The Theosophical Society in India: Study of its activities from 1879  to 1885".

                            Dr Gurdip Sharma joined as Principal, GGDSD College Hariana (Hoshiarpur)  (affiliated to Panjab University Chandigarh) in June 2000.He widely traveled in India ,visited Kathmandu to attend International Conference on Higher Education and Visited Pakistan as member of Indian Delegation to Katasraj.

                          He is actively involved in academic bodies of Panjab University as Member  Academic Council; Member Board of Studies in History; Member Faculty of Arts, Languages, Education and Design and  Fine Arts; Elected Member of Senate in Sept 2004 for a period of four years and also Syndicate in Dec 2005 of  Panjab University, the executive governing body of the University.
