                          ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE FIELD OF CULTURAL/CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES 

                        The Department of co-curricular/cultural activities under the patronage of of our worthy Principal Dr.Gurdip Kumar Sharma had been very active in enriching the cultural life of the college during session 2000-2001.

                         Dr. Gurdip K.Sharma who was selected as permanent new Principal by the duly constituted selection Committee took intiative and department decided to hold Zonal Youth Festival at Hariana from 25th Nov. 2000 to 27th Nov. 2000. Prof. R.M.Ghay and Dr. Harcharan Singh worked very hard to make the Youth Festival a grand success with the help of teaching, non-teaching staff. Teams from Hoshiarpur , Mahilpur, Garhshankar, Mangowal, Rattewal, Pojewal, participated in the Youth Festival.Sh.Balbir Singh Miani, minister of state for Higher Education inaugurated the morning session on 25th Nov. 2000.Sh.Kamal Chaudhary Ex-M.P. was the chief guest. S.Parkash Singh Badal Chief Minister Punjab was to be the chief guest on 26th Nov.2000. He couldn’t come due to emergent circumstances and his message was read out by the Deputy Commissioner Sh.I.S.Sidhu and on C.M.’s behalf he liberally donated Rs.500000/- from discretionary fund. Sh. Amrit Sagar Mittal (M.D. Sonalika) was the guest of honour. Chief guest of the morning session was Dr. Shiv Kumar Ex-M.L.A. & President Shree Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha (Panjab). Sh.R.P.Bali Ex-M.L.A. & Vice President Sh.S.D.P.S. was the chief guest for 27th Nov. 2000 morning session.Master Mohan Lal Ji Cabinet Minister for Higher Education was chief guest on 27th Nov. 2000 evening session.On the concluding day of the function, Master Mohan Lal Ji distributed prizes to the various winner teams and students. Our college bagged prizes in the following items:-

                         The Zonal Youth Festival was held at D.A.V.College, Hoshiarpur from 22nd Nov. 2001 to 24th Nov. 2001. Our College bagged prizes in the following items at Punjab University Youth Festival:

Inter S.D.College Function 

                         The contest was organized by Shree Sanatan Dharam Education Board. Dr. Shiv Kumar (Ex.M.L.A.), President, S.D.Education Board, presided over the function. Dr.Desh Bandhu, the Organizing and Finance Secretary, Principal Umesh Chandra Sharma (Retd.) Director, S.D. Education Board, Sh. R.P.Bali (Ex.M.L.A.) and other members of the S.D.Education Board were present on this occasion. Eleven teams from various S.D.Colleges participated in this contest.This was the second time when such a contest was held in this college.
